Mathura (Uttar Pradesh): Over a dozen of devotees were hospitalised in the district hospital of Kasganj on Sunday night after consuming "Chholr-Puri" outside the railway station in which a dead lizard was found.
While eating food, a devotee found a dead lizard in his food. After seeing the lizard, everyone started vomiting.
After getting the information about the incident, SO GRP Anurag Yadav reached the spot and admitted all the devotees to Kasganj district hospital for immediate treatment.
District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh, took cognizance of the case, immediately sent Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Yogendra Kumar, Deputy District Magistrate Lalit Kumar and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Pratima Srivastava to the hospital.
All the devotees are from Pilibhit's Puranpur who came to visit Radharani Temple in Mathura on the occasion of Radha Ashtami after which they had to return by a train to Puranpur.
The incident took place when they arrived at Kasganj Junction on Sunday night and decided to have dinner outside the station from a restaurant.
Food and vomit samples have been sent for examination.
ADM Yogendra Kumar said that food samples have been sent for examination.
