Lucknow: With a UK returnee child reporting COVID-19 positive in Meerut, the health department's concerns have increased and all the passengers returning from the United Kingdom are constantly being scanned. Nearly 10 more samples for COVID test have been sent by the authorities and the Government of India has submitted a list of 1655 people who reached Uttar Pradesh from the United Kingdom, out of which 1090 people have been identified.
As of now, 565 passengers have not been identified, making the situation a little tense.
117 passengers from Britain investigated
117 of the 138 UK citizens who arrived in the capital Lucknow after 8 December have been investigated. Out of which 114 reports are negative and 3 people's reports are pending. 21 passengers are untraceable
The administration is trying their phone numbers constantly and trying to contact them.
COVID-19 positive found in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and Bareilly
10 people back from Britain in Uttar Pradesh have been found infected with the coronavirus of whose samples have been sent to Delhi to investigate the variants of coronavirus.

Giving information on the situation, Principal Health Secretary said that COVID-19 positive people who returned from Britain have been found in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Bareilly. The health department is alert on the situation.
All the infected have been quarantined and information is being collected in respect of those who come in contact with them. All the people in contact are being investigated.
UP's recovery rate of 96 per cent
The Principal Secretary Health added that 1121 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, 1369 people have been cured of Covid-19 infection. At present there are 14344 active cases, while the recovery rate has been 96 per cent.
COVID cases highest in Prayagraj, Varanasi, Lucknow
Uttar Pradesh continues to show a decline in cases of COVID -19 infection but there are some districts where the average COVID-19 cases are higher. In the capital Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, more cases of COVID-19 infection are being seen and on an average 200 cases are being reported.
KGMU will investigate strain-2

Principal Secretary said that the sample of the passengers coming back from the UK is being sent to Delhi to check for new Covid-19 strain but soon, the investigation of Strain-2 will be started in the capital King George's Medical University. There is a machine available for testing the strains, some resources are required, which will be completed soon and the investigation will start at KGMU, the Secretary added.
