In a tragic incident, three people killed and five were injured after a massive collision between a van and a bus on Sunday evening Jalalpur area of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. 3 dead, 5 injured in bus-van collision in UP's Kannauj

Kannauj: Three persons died and five sustained grievous injuries in a road accident in the Jalalpur area of Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Ajit Kumar (30) and Shakuntala (35) and a seven-year-old boy Ayush of Kanpur.

According to reports, The accident took place at GT Road at Jalalpur village area while the bus running at a high speed on the opposite way collided head-on with the van.

After colliding with the van, the bus fell in a roadside ditch. Eighteen passengers of the bus received minor injuries. The seven people, who were seriously injured, were in the van, reports said.

On being informed about the incident, Kannauj police carried the rescue work and shifted critically injured passengers to the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur. Three of the seriously injured, whose condition was critical, were referred to the Medical College and Hospital in Tirwa.

Among the deceased, Ayush, the son of a man named Sonu, who was returning with his family members to Kanpur from Farrukhabad after attending the last rites of his brother-in-law.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

The Chief Minister prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and directed the state officials to provide them with better treatment.
