Hyderabad: Almost three months after releasing crime data of 2017, National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) has now released the crime data of 2018 stating that over 50 lakh cognizable crimes were registered in the year.
Crime in India has increased by 1.3% in 2018 compared to 2017 with the registration of over 50 lakh cognisable crimes, reveals NCRB.
As per the NCRB, Telangana has shown an upward trend as the number of murders, kidnaps, and crimes against women and children have increased in the state.
However, when we compare the report from 2017, we see that the overall crime rate in Telangana dips by 4.92% this year.
Also, the data states that the overall crime in the city has come down by 3.76% in 2018, compared to the previous year.
The road accidents have raised a serious concern over the need to find out the way to limit accidental deaths in the city as thee statistics shows that among 6,603 road accident deaths in 2018, at least, 5377 deaths were due to speeding.
For that matter, crime against women has increased in Hyderabad by 2.68% in 2018, besides this, the crime against children has taken a toll rise of 27.53%, compared to 2017.
Crimes against women across the state dipped by 8.5% in 2018.

As many as 2,332 cases of crime against women were registered in the city that year, as against 2,272 in 2017. In 2016, the number of cases registered was 2,419.
Though Cybercrime in Telangana has shown a decreasing trend, there has been a rise in Hyderabad.
In 2016 and 2017, 593 and 1209 cases of cybercrime were registered respectively and in 2018, a total of 1205 cases were registered in Telangana.
Whereas, talking solely about Hyderabad, as many as 428 cases of cybercrime has been registered in the city in 2018, which includes:368 cases of the Computer-related offences, 32 of the transmission of obscene content and 96 cases of the sexual exploitation.
