Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy made an announcement to extend the lockdown across the state till August 31st amid COVID-19 pandemic.
The CM on Thursday discussed with health experts regarding the pandemic situation prevailing in the state. After the discussion, he announced the extension of the lockdown.
Key features of the lockdown:
- Complete lockdown will be enforced on Sundays.
- Hotels and restaurants can run with 50% staffs from 6 AM to 7 PM.
- E Pass rules will remain the same. Restrictions on Public transport will continue.
- Vegetable and grocery shops operation time fixed as 6 AM to 7 PM.
- Private firms can work with 75% of staffs.
- Independence day celebrations allowed with proper social distancing norms.
- Educational institutions will remains shut.
