Chennai: Chief Minister MK Stalin dismissed as "cheap politics" the two purported audio files in which the Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan (PTR) is heard saying certain remarks about the assets of the DMK's first family. Breaking silence over the issue, in his question and answer series - "Ungalalil Oruvan," the CM pointed out that PTR has already responded to the matter twice.

The DMK chief said: "He (PTR) himself has given two detailed explanations on this matter. I have time only to do my duty for people. I do not want to talk anything further on this and give publicity to those indulging in cheap politics."

The two purported audio clips released by BJP state president K Annamalai had some references about Stalin's son Udhayanidhi and son-in-law V Sabareesan. PTR categorically denied of having said anything like that or speaking to anyone as claimed by the saffron party. The FM, citing examples, asserted that the they were created using deep fake technology by altering the digital material.

BJP's grudge on minorities- Replying to a question on how he views Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent remarks in Telangana that BJP will end Muslim reservation after they come to power, Stalin said it showed the party's grudge on minorities. "He has spoken so for electoral gains. The BJP leadership has an imagination that only spewing hatred on Muslims will satisfy Hindus. It is not true. The majority of our electorate that did not vote for BJP are actually Hindus. They wish for peace and brotherhood. The BJP attempts to impose its hate agenda on some sections and project it as the sentiments of the majority," the DMK leader alleged.

The DMK president charged the BJP's social media troll army accounts as acting as its propaganda machine to spread canards, lies and fake news. Stalin accused certain media organisations of having turned to become the mouthpiece of the saffron party.

"The BJP pushes its hate politics with the help of such factors. In a country that has secularism in the preamble of its Constitution, the home minister speaking like this is a breach of Constitution. People are watching everything," Stalin said.
