Rare rooster breeds on display at Karaimangalam

A remote town in Karaimangalam in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu became the spot of display of various rare rooster breeds. The selling price depends on factors like eye colour. White or pearl eyed ones go for a huge amount.

Dharmapuri: Rare breeds of roosters including the likes of 'Kili Mooku' and 'Visiri Vaal' were on display at the exhibition organised at Karaimangalam in Tamil Nadu. Around 500 roosters were brought from various parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka for the event.

According to reports, residents of nearby districts also flocked in to see and buy the rare breeds. Prizes were given based on various factors including the colour of the eye, short combs, thick beaks and long, beautiful multi-coloured tail.

The event, which acts as a platform for people who rear rare breed to interact, also gives away medals and certificates for the best rooster in town. The Chennai rooster won the first prize at the event with its tall, muscular demeanour.

Kili Mooku roosters on show!



Nationwide Kili Mooku roosters show Exhibition was held at Karaimangalam, Dharmapuri District . More than 500 roosters ranging cocks and hens from TamilNadu, Kerala, Andhra and Karnataka were on display. Prize Given By various factors especially the colour of the eye – white or pearl - short combs, thick beaks and long and beautiful multi-coloured tail. The first prize of gold coin and second prize silver. Chennai roosters won the first prize at this show. Dharmapuri people eagerly watched the Show. Exhibition featured services ranging from Rs 6,000 to Rs 6 lakh.
