A man named Nawshad Ali has been arrested by Marthandam police in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district after locals got skeptical of him. The police have recovered a couple of maps of Kanyakumari district and an identification card from his possession.

Kanyakumari: A man from West Bengal was arrested by Marthandam police in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district on Wednesday.

According to locals, the man was asking directions for a local temple in Hindi language and due to language barrier, the skeptical locals brought him to a military man where he stopped talking and started acting dumb.

On suspicion, he was handed over to the Kanyakumari police who arrested and started interrogating him.

The police recovered a couple of maps of Kanyakumari district and an identification card with the name of Nawshad Ali from his possession.

As the incident took place days after the terrorist intrusion alert in the state, the police informed the Intelligence Bureau and are questioning him thoroughly to establish his purpose of visit to Tamil Nadu.
