Dindigul: A new restaurant at Sirumalai in Dindigul district in Tamil Nadu has grabbed attention with its unique offer of biryani parcel in exchange for an old Re 1 note. People stormed the restaurant to taste the mouth-watering biryani.
Expectedly, people scouted around every nook and corner in the house for the old one rupee note which has lost its glory. The offer was limited to 100 people who came first.
The restaurant management said that they announced the offer as recognition for people's efforts to preserve old notes. They have been saving old notes with utmost care and caution.

It's noteworthy that the rupee or coin printed before independence with Queen Victoria's picture is worth up to Rs 2 lakh. It was also estimated that the value of one rupee coin with the image of King George, the British King in 1918 is estimated to be around Rs 9 lakh.
Collection of old and rare notes and coins had reaped people huge benefits earlier. A bundle of old Re 1 note was sold at Rs 45,000 through a website.
In 1957, the one rupee note bundle was released and signed by former Union Minister of Finance Hirubhai M. Patel, with jumbling number 123456, reports said.
