Villupuram: Police have launched a hunt for a man who escaped with a two-wheeler after taking it for a test ride from a showroom at Villupuram in Tamil Nadu on Monday. Intriguingly, he managed to collect petrol from the showroom staff mid-way after running out of the fuel.
A complaint has been registered against a man for allegedly posing as a buyer at a Royal Enfield showroom on Chennai- Trichy National Highway in Villupuram.
The man introducing himself as a student of Medical College at Mundiampakkam told the showroom manager that he is willing to purchase a bike and for that, he needs a solo test drive.
With the showroom manager’s permission, and after collecting all his document's they gave him bike keys for a solo test ride.
Later, after riding two km, he called the showroom employee to fill petrol in his two-wheeler as it stopped mid-way.
The accused on the pretext of taking a test drive further escaped with the motorcycle worth Rs 1.85 lakhs.
The Villupuram police registered a case and launched a hunt for the suspect. They have collected CCTV footage from the showroom and are trying to nab the suspect based on the footage.
