Coimbatore: The Mahashivratri celebrations which commenced at 6 pm on Feb 21 and went up till 6 am on Saturday, in front of 112-feet tall Adiyogi statue where Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev joined thousands of people from all over the world.
The annual Maha Shivaratri festival is being celebrated at the Isha Yoga Center in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore on a grand scale.
The festival has shaped into a huge celebration not only in Tamil Nadu, but also of congregation of people from various parts of India and from various countries of the world.
People from every corner of the world had come to the Isha Yoga Center on the 'Mahaparva' of Shivratri to do yoga practice in front of 'Aadi Linga' so that peace, energy and positive energy can flow in their lives.
Later, Maha annadhana is being served to the devotees throughout the night of Mahashivratri.
Devotees said, "The best charity is the distribution of food. It is a wonderful characteristic of our culture practised right from the beginning. It is seen as the path to spiritual growth in our culture."
The Sadhguru talking about food distribution said,"Lord Buddha told his followers, 'When you serve the food on your plate to the hungry people near you your strength will exceed than that acquired by eating the same'. Our words cannot aptly describe the scintillating feeling we get when we give something to others."
Maha Shivaratri festival is been celebrated for the past 26 years at the Sadhguru's Isha Yoga Center.
The function in front of the Aadiyogi idol marked by the Sadhguru's meditation classes, folklore and art exhibitions by local and foreign artists and exhibition of country cattle.
"It is about rising to a place where people can see each other almost as divine beings because there is a possibility that human beings can transform their very existence. The way we are, our body, our mind, and emotions can be taken to another level," Sadhguru further added.
