Jodhpur (Rajasthan): The Jodhpur-Sabarmati Express train was flagged off on Tuesday by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Jalore MP Devji M. Patel.
This train will run five days a week from October 10. It will depart from Jodhpur station at 5 am and reach Sabarmati at 2 pm. While returning train will leave Sabarmati station at 5.30 pm and reach Jodhpur station at 3 am the next day.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Shekhawat said that Indian Railway has touched greater heights under the railway minister Piyush Goyal.
He further said that " The government has approved the railways' proposal to increase the train speed on Delhi-Mumbai routes to 160 kmph which will reduce travel time. The speed will subsequently be increased to 200 kmph."
"The electrification work at the Jodhpur railway division will also start soon," added Shekhawat.
It is to be noted that the demand for Jodhpur-Sabarmati Express via Jalore was long pending. The induction of this train is expected to provide considerable relief to commuters.
On this occasion, Jodhpur Railway Divisional Manager Gautam Arora Mayor Ghanshyam Ojha and others were also present.
