Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan): In an extremely unfortunate development, two women died allegedly due to negligence of doctors after undergoing surgery at a sterilisation camp in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district.
Following the incident at a sterlisation camp in the district's Suratgarh, the health department has cancelled all other such camps in the district.
After the incident, questions were raised as to why the camp was held at a time when non-urgent surgeries have been put on hold in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, district collector Mahaveer Prasad Verma informed that a committee has been constituted to probe into the incident. According to reports, the committee will consist of four doctors who will probe into the deaths.
Further, Dr Darshan Singh, the surgeon at Suratgarh, has been issued awaiting posting order (APO).
The collector assured that necessary action will be taken against those responsible. He added that if it is found that the camp was held violating any orders, action will be taken against the responsible officers.
