Pali: In a tragic incident, three manual scavengers died while another has been hospitalised due to asphyxiation while cleaning a sewerage chamber in Rajasthan's Pali, officials said on Saturday. It is learnt that the four youths were cleaning the sewerage chamber built in the vicinity of a marriage hall located near the new bus stand in Pali city on Friday night.
An official said that while cleaning the sewerage chamber, the youths inhaled the poisonous gas emanating from the human waste and passed out. Soon after the incident, a rescue operation was launched and the four youths were shifted to the hospital where three of them succumbed, an official said. The fourth youth is undergoing treatment at the hospital, he added.

The bodies of the three youths have been shifted to the Bangar Hospital mortuary. A police official said that a sewerage chamber has been built near the bus stand to dump waste in the Centurion Marriage Hall. The marriage hall operator on Friday night negligently engaged four laborers for cleaning the sewerage chamber without safety equipment, the police official said.
He said that the condition of the youths deteriorated due to the poisonous gas from the chamber leading to the death of three of them due to asphyxiation. CO City Anil Saran while confirming the development identified the deceased youth as Manish Hans son of Chenaram, Karan son of Mukesh Valmiki and Ladu alias Bharat, a resident of Valmiki Basti.
Soon after the incident, a police force including CO City Anil Saran, Kotwal Ravindra Singh, Industrial Station in-charge Hinglaj Dan Charan reached the spot to take stock of the situation. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
