Stone pelting on police in Banswara, one cop severely injured

Fearing the spread of coronavirus infection, villagers of Banswara's Lodha village started pelting stones in protest against the construction of a quarantine centre in their area. After the incident, a few miscreants fled the scene while others were immediately taken into custody.

Banswara: One policeman was seriously injured when villagers of Banswara's Lodha village started pelting stones in protest against the construction of a quarantine centre in their area on Monday.

The police and the administration officials were walking to the spot for inspection when the villagers started creating a ruckus- fearing the spread of coronavirus infection in the area.

The city administration had decided to turn Navodaya Vidyalaya into a quarantine centre for migrants. The school building was recently sanitised and was inspected by the City Magistrate Brijesh Gupta.

After the stone pelting incident, a few miscreants fled the scene while some were immediately taken into custody.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Meena said, "One of our policemen got seriously injured and our vehicle was also vandalised. At the moment, we have detained a few people. Strict action will be taken against those who are responsible for creating an uproar."
