Rajasthan protestors attack police, loot hotel

The candidates of the 2018 teachers' recruitment exam have been protesting over the past fortnight to press for their demand to fill 1,167 general posts with ST-category candidates.

Udaipur: In the ongoing protests where the candidates of the 2018 teachers' recruitment exam have been demanding the Rajasthan government to fill 1,167 general posts with Scheduled Tribe (ST)-category candidates, police jawans were attacked and lootings reported.

The protests that started 19 days ago near the Udaipur-Dungarpur border have now turned violent where Atithi Hotel was also damaged by the unruly mob.

The protestors vandalised, looted, and also set fire in the hotel in presence of heavy police deployment.

Policemen who tried intervening were attacked and police vehicles were torched by protesters.

As per reports, a loss in crores is being estimated due to the protests, and some policemen along with several civilians are reportedly grievously injured whose treatment is on.

The police have since registered cases against 700 people and a loss in crores has been reported.
