Jaisalmer: There is a piece of good news for farmers suffering from constant locust attacks in several parts of Rajasthan. District collector Jaisalmer, Namit Mehta said that with the help of Agriculture Department, Locust Control Department, District Administration and farmers, locusts in the district have been controlled to a great extent.
Mehta claimed that in the next two-to-three days, the administration will completely curb the menace.
"The administration has informed the Border Security Force (BSF) to give information of swarm of locusts which comes from the Pakistan border on time so that we can take preventive measures on time," he added.
Mehta said that as per the information given by the BSF team, since last two days swarm of locusts have not seen near the area and is good news for the farmers.
As per reports, in the last locust attack in December, almost 6,500 villages in nine districts of Rajasthan and two districts of Gujarat were affected.
At present, it is claimed 312 villages are already under another attack of locusts, with maximum villages affected in Jaisalmer district followed by Barmer.
