Ajmer (Rajasthan): A team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Saturday conducted a raid on the residence of Ajmer Revenue Service Officers BL Mehrada and Sunil Sharma and recovered Rs 80 lakhs and several other important documents.
According to the report, the ACB team had received multiple complaints about the officers regarding the illegal practices in the revenue department.
While speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police Samir Kumar Singh, said that Shashikant, an advocate who has a strong link in the revenue department, act as a bridge in negotiating hefty amount for the revenue officers in order to favour some cases. After receiving multiple complaints against the officers, a team of ACB was deployed in the revenue department. Subsequently, the team has collected ample shreds of evidence that proves the involvement of both the officers in the illegal malpractice in the department.
"The team has conducted a raid on the residence of both the officers and an advocate involved in the malpractices. As of now, Rs 80 lakh and several other documents have been recovered by the team", said SP.
Earlier on Friday, CBI carried out searches at premises of Alka Rajvanshi Jain, Commissioner of Income Tax Appeals in Udaipur, and her husband, Amit Jain, the Group General Manager (S&T), Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd in Jodhpur and recovered Rs 13.2 lakh in cash besides several documents of properties worth crores in connection with a disproportionate asset case.
