Punjab Police immediately nabbed accused lawyer Sahib Singh who allegedly threatened to shoot Moradabad sacrilege accused Jasbir Singh in a Rupnagar court. Jasbir was accused of hitting two Sikh priests and desecrating the Guru Granth Sahib at a Morinda gurudwara a few days ago.

Morinda (Punjab) : A surprise attack by a lawyer who pulled a revolver and aimed it at Morinda blasphemy accused Jasbir Singh created an uproar in a Rupnagar court on Thursday afternoon, sources said. Jasbir Singh, accused of a sacrilege case at Gurdwara Shri Kotwali Sahib, Morinda, was given tight security by a police team led by Rupnagar DSP Talwinder Singh and presented in the court of Rupnagar.

The local advocates confirmed the incident but said that one lawyer had only tried to manhandle Jasbir singh. The lawyer's attack took place when the accused was brought into court. First Class Judicial Magistrate Madam Parul has heard the case and sent the accused on police remand for two more days. The accused was taken towards the SDM (sub-divisional magistrate) office amid tight security.

An attempt was made to attack Jasbir Singh when he was presented in the court of Rupnagar. A lawyer named Sahib Singh, pointed a pistol at him. Fortunately, the police caught that lawyer Sahib Singh on the spot and snatched the revolver from his hand.

There is a lapse in the security of the sacrilege accused Jasbir Singh. It was said that Sahib Singh, who is a lawyer by profession, was already present in the court. When he saw that Jasbir Singh was brought to court to be produced by the police, he attacked him.

Sahib Singh has been caught by the police and the revolver used by him is seized. The police are finding out in whose name the license of the revolver is issued or if it is a revolver without a license. The accused lawyer has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
