Punjab: Navjot Singh Sidhu, the cricketer-turned-politician having been elevated to the top post in the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, overriding the objections raised by CM and his arch rival Captain Amarinder Singh, now has several issues to deal with such as sacrilege, drug menace & mining issues. Following his appointment there has been a discussion in the state's political corridors as to whether he would continue tweeting and raising questions against the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on various issues pertaining to the state or will he remain silent.
Congress MLA Barindermeet Singh Pahra reacting to the issue, said that though the officers in his government had made a mistake regarding the Beadbi issue of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would soon fulfill the promises made to the people and that as the case has been handed to the CBI, there has been a delay.

"Whether Navjot Singh Sidhu would now raise his voice on the issue of sacrilege, mining and drugs is up to him. Congress never fought for mining, drug abuse nor unemployment issues. Rather, the fight was only between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to save their chair, they have nothing to do with the issues of the people," said Raghav Chadha, the co-incharge of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unit in Punjab.
However, Akali Dal's Karmveer Singh Guraya criticized Navjot Singh Sidhu saying that he only wanted the head Congress' Punjab unit and that he has now got it and like the Congress government did nothing in four and a half years, Sidhu will also do nothing.

It is known that earlier, on July 12th Sidhu had tweeted, "Pertinent questions of People of Punjab on Beadbi issue to Badals :- 1. Why no proper inquiry by Badal Govt into theft of "Bir of Guru Granth Sahib Ji" at Village Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on June 1, 2015, which led to Sacrilege, followed by protests and firing in October 2015?, 2. What were the actions taken against officers who falsely implicated two brothers, Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh for sacrilege?, 3. Why No action taken by Badal Govt during two years in sacrilege cases before 2017 Elections, despite Justice (Retd.) Zora Singh Commission Inquiry Report and SIT led by Ranbir Singh Khatra pointing needle of suspicion to Dera Sacha Sauda men?, 4. Why No action against fabrication of evidence in Behbal Kalan firing incident ? How escort gypsy of SSP Charanjit Sharma was taken to workshop of Pankaj Bansal & with gun of Sohail Brar bullet marks planted on jeep - to show police fired in self defence? Who ordered this? Have asked every relevant question on Beadbi issue to everyone who should be held accountable over the past few months and in the last 6 Years ... What is the point in repeating but questions must be asked to the real Culprits, the Badals!"
