Ferozepur: Foiling yet another cross-border drug smuggling bid by a drone, the Border Security Force on Sunday recovered nearly 2.5 kg heroin along the Indo-Pak border near Setha Wala village in Ferozepur District of Punjab, officials said. A spokesman of the Punjab Frontier of the BSF said that yesterday at about 11:55 PM, BSF troops deployed at the border heard a buzzing sound of a suspected flying object (drone) entering from Pakistan to Indian territory in the area near Setha Wala village in Ferozepur District.
“BSF troops recovered a big pouch containing 3 packets of heroin weighing approx 2.5 Kg and other substances as well,” he said. The incident comes hours after the BSF claimed to have recovered another heroin packet weighing around 1 kg heroin near the Border Fencing near Village Kilche in Ferozepur District.

A BSF spokesman said that the heroin was stuffed in socks and was found lying in a farming field in the area. The gross weight of the packet of heroin was found to be approximately 1.5 kg, the spokesman said adding the consignment was found while reaping of straw after harvesting of wheat in the area.
