NCB seizes 700 kg of cannabis worth Rs 50 lakh in Odisha

Around 700 kilograms of dry cannabis worth Rs 50 lakh was seized from a truck on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar today. The truck was reportedly transporting the contraband from Andhra Pradesh to Balasore.

Bhubaneswar (Odisha): The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday seized 700 kilograms of ganja (dry cannabis) from the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, the massive amount of contraband was seized from a truck near Godipada toll gate on the Bhubaneswar-Khordha road.

The estimated market value of the seized contraband is stated to be around Rs 50 lakh.

According to reports, the truck was illegally transporting the contraband from Andhra Pradesh to Balasore in Odisha, when the officials intercepted it.

This comes just a day after four suspected drug peddlers were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police for trying to smuggle 200 kg ganja into the state.

The consignment was being carried in a truck from Odisha to Banda in Uttar Pradesh when it was intercepted by a joint team of STF and local police.

The market value of the seized consignment of ganja (cannabis) was stated to be about Rs 30 lakh.
