Washim (Maharashtra): The aspiration and perseverance to work hard can easily overcome any difficulties with age, an example of which can be seen at Tandli Shewai in Maharashtra's Washim district. Due to financial constraints, a 68-year-old farmer decided to plough the field with the help of his elderly wife.

Atmaram Navghare has 1.5 acres of farmland. But since there is no pair of oxen, he started ploughing the land with the help of his wife. Due to the weak economic situation amid coronavirus pandemic, there is no facility to rent for ploughing, so the elderly couple is doing it on their own.

With just one and a half acres of farm, it does not give much income. However, it is impossible to incur other expenses on agriculture as there is no other option. He does not have a pair of oxen, nor does he have money for labourers, so he and his wife survive by doing weeding and mowing.

This is an inspiration for today's young generation. The courage of overcoming the crisis by this elderly couple is inspiring a lot of other farmers. While young farmers are committing suicide due to the damage caused by natural calamities in recent times, the elderly couple is cultivating their land without the help of modern equipment and oxen at the last turn of life.
