The Maharashtra government will issue an ordinance for OBC reservation. Addressing media persons on Wednesday, Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said reservations would be given to OBCs without exceeding the 50 per cent limit.

Mumbai (Maharashtra): The Maharashtra government will issue an ordinance for OBC reservation. Addressing media persons on Wednesday, Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said reservations would be given to OBCs without exceeding the 50 per cent limit.

He was addressing the media after the cabinet meeting.

The OBC quota was struck down by the Supreme Court citing that reservation cannot exceed 50 per cent of the seats in local bodies. Maharashtra BJP on Wednesday protested against the coalition government in the state. BJP has been accusing the state government of avoiding the political reservation of the OBC community for the last six months. The BJP leadership has consistently been pressuring the state government to take immediate action to collect the imperial data of the OBC community.
