Delhi: The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that bypoll to the Satara Lok Sabha seat will be held on October 21 along with the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
The decision to hold the bypoll was taken after the Bombay High Court decided on an election petition on Satara Lok Sabha elections. The order reached the Commission on Monday.
The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be fighting on issues like farm crisis, economic slowdown and unemployment in the assembly elections in Maharashtra.
Haryana will also be voting on October 21, while counting for both the states will take place on October 24.
The term of 288-member Maharashtra assembly will end on November 9, while that of the 90-member Haryana assembly will come to an end on November 2.
