'Delta plus' variant may trigger third COVID-19 wave in Maharashtra

The growing crowd at picnic spots may be the reason for the increase in Delta Plus patients in Maharashtra. Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed that in the state, 21 patients of the Delta Plus variant have been found.

Mumbai: Lockdown in Maharashtra has eased after the second wave of corona subsided. However, with the onset of monsoon in the state and the slowdown in lockdown, the state has started attracting unscrupulous tourists. As a result, the number of tourists visiting tourist destinations has started increasing. On the other hand, cases of Delta Plus variants of Corona are on the rise in the state, in which case the growing crowd at picnic spots may be the reason for increase in Delta Plus patients.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed that in the state, 21 patients of the Delta Plus variant have been found. Delta Plus has 9 patients in Ratnagiri, 7 in Jalgaon and 2 in Mumbai. Apart from this, one patient each in Palghar, Thane and Sindhudurg districts were found to be infected with Delta Plus.

A large crowd of tourists can be seen at Asheri fort in Wada-Khadkona village in Palghar district. In Lonavla, the rainfall is very strong. As a result, waterfalls that attract tourists from Mumbai and Pune have started flowing. Tourists from all over the country, including Pune and Mumbai, visit this place. Chikhaldara, a tourist destination of Vidarbha, has also started attracting a large number of tourists.

Lonavla-Khandala is crowded with tourists every year. Since Khandala Ghat is close to Mumbai, most of the people who go to Mumbai stay here for a while. Tourists are flocking to Khandala to see the Amritanjan Bridge, Rajmachi Fort, Rajmachi Point, Khandala Ghat, Dasturi Ghat, etc.

There is currently a tourism ban in Pune district on the back of Corona. Yet, some tourists are breaking the ban and reaching Bhushi Dam. At the same time, Amboli Ghat in Kolhapur, Fonda Ghat, Igatpuri in Nashik district, Lonavla in Pune district, Malshej, Junnar are crowded with tourists.
