"I am happy to tell you all that the first decision that this cabinet has taken is to approve Rs 20 Crores for the development of Raigad which was the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," said CM Uddhav Thackeray after the first cabinet meet of the newly elected government. 

"I want to assure the people of the state that we will give a good government. I want to help the farmers in a manner which will make them happy," Uddhav said.

Sena-NCP-Congress combine released its Common Minimum Program ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Uddhav Thackeray as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The Program includes the commitment of the alliance partners to provide immediate assistance to farmers who are suffering due to premature rains and floods. It also includes an immediate loan waiver. 

"The alliance partners commit to uphold the secular values enshrined in the Constitution," the preamble of CMP read. 

Besides, other schemes like revised crop insurance to ensure immediate compensation to farmers and remunerative prices for farm produce.
Also, special focus is being given to drought-affected areas.

In terms of employment, the Aghadi promises 80% reservation in jobs for local/domicile youth. The program also stresses the need to fill vacant posts in the state government immediately.

The CMP also includes program like free education for girls from economically weaker sections, construction of working women hostels in cities and augmentation of service facilities for Anganwadi Sevikas/ Asha workers.

At least 2,000 police personnel will guard the Shivaji Park as part of the elaborate security arrangements being made for the swearing-in ceremony, a police official said.

The iconic venue will turn into a virtual fortress as personnel drawn from various security forces, including Quick Response Teams, Riot Control Police, State Reserve Police Force, Local Armed Police and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad will be deployed to prevent any untoward incident.

Mumbai: Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Maharashtra at the Shivaji Park in Dadar in Central Mumbai on Thursday evening.

"As requested orally, the oath of office and secrecy would be administered to you (Uddhav Thackeray) on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at 18:40 hrs at Shivaji Park, Dadar, Mumbai," Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari said in a letter on Tuesday.

MLAs of the NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena had met the Governor and submitted a letter declaring Shiv Sena Chief Udhhav Thackeray as their leader late on Tuesday, following which, Koshyari issued the directives.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday raised security concerns over the swearing-in ceremony at Shivaji Park, and said holding such functions at a public ground should not become a regular feature.

Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday night separately met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh and invited them for the swearing-in ceremony.
