Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): A tanker carrying acid began leaking on Ratlam bypass in Gujarat on Thursday, forcing people to run for protection.
The tanker that was carrying chlorosulphonic acid started leaking mid-way between Nagda and Ahmedabad releasing white smoke into the air. The reason for the leak was not known.
Even though no major damage to life or property was reported, the leakage caused severe itching in the eyes and suffocation to passersby and locals.
The driver immediately steered the vehicle away to a safe area before parking it.
Workers from the Ahmedabad dressing company, where the tanker was headed, reached the spot and transferred the acid to another tanker.
The movement of vehicles on the Ratlam bypass was also restricted during the process.
