Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The shop and other premises of a Jabalpur-based businessman picked up by Gujarat police for allegedly dealing in fake Remdesivir injections were raided on Saturday night.
Sapan Jain was held by Gujarat police from in Jabalpur, after which local police raided his shop and other premises a day later to gather details about his fake Remdesivir network.
On May 1, Gujarat police had busted a major duplicate Remdesivir manufacturing racket and arrested seven persons from three cities -- Morbi, Ahmedabad and Surat.
"The Jabalpur-based businessman has been taking advantage of the shortage of Remdesivir, an anti-viral drug, which is being used in treating coronavirus cases. He was involved in making duplicate injections for the past many days," said Additional Superintendent of Police Rohit Kashwani.
"The Gujarat police arrested Jain and seized fake Remdisivir injections from him. Now we are interrogating the family members of Jain to ascertain the other black marketing sources of the accused," said, Kashwani.
"Jain was under the watch of cops after Gujarat police on May 1 busted the factory in Surat making fake Remdesivir injections. He was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for adulteration of drugs," Kaswani added.
