Madhya Pradesh police arrest serial killer who killed 6 people

The Madhya Pradesh Police nabbed an alleged serial killer who murdered at least six people after luring them with stories about hidden treasure. The accused was also sentenced to life imprisonment in 2000 for the murder of five people.

Bhopal: Police in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal have arrested an alleged serial killer, who killed at least six people after luring them with stories about hidden treasure.

The alleged accused Maniram Sen, a resident of Manora village, duped people on the pretext of offering them a share in a hidden treasure he knew about. He then murdered his lenders in cold blood to avoid paying them back, said officials.

Speaking to reporters, Rajesh Singh Bhadoria, Superintendent of Police, said that Sen did not use the mobile phone and used to call from the telephone booths which made him untraceable.

The officer further said that Sen continuously changed his location but at the end the police successfully nabbed him.

The matter first came to light on November 8, 2020, when police found a dead body near Sukhi Sewania village on the outskirts of Bhopal. Later identified as one Adil Wahav, the victim's face had been crushed with a stone in an attempt to conceal his identity.

Preliminary investigation along with the interrogation of as many as 74 people, including the victim's family and friends, revealed that one Maniram Sen had borrowed Rs 17,000 from him by luring him with the promise of a hidden treasure.

After he committed the heinous crime, Sen fled the spot. The Sukhi Sewania police station even declared a reward of Rs 20,000 in exchange for any information about the blind murder.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sen was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2000 for the murder of five people. He was released in 2017.
