After the debacle of Kamal Nath led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, MP Rakesh Singh taunted that nothing can be ridiculous than the Congress government in the state.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Rakesh Singh said that the kind of anarchy that was caused by the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh in the last 18 months is going to end and good days are coming for the people of Madhya Pradesh.

Notably, after the fall of the Kamal Nath government, now the BJP government has decided to come to the state. BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia used to remain in a state of confrontation with his government, even though he was in the Congress party on the issue of farmers.

Additional Advocate General of MP resigns

Supreme Court lawyer Sunil Fernandes today tendered his resignation with immediate effect from the post of additional advocate general (AAG) of the Madhya Pradesh government. Fernandes submitted his resignation to Satyendra Kumar Singh, principal secretary of the Department of Law and Legislative Affairs of Madhya Pradesh.

"Please accept my resignation with immediate effect as the AAG for the state of Madhya Pradesh in the Supreme Court. I take this opportunity to thank the Law Department, all other departments and officers of the state government, for their prompt assistance and co-operation, which enabled the undersigned, to effectively discharge his duties before the Supreme Court," he said in his resignation letter.

Reacting to the political development in Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar blamed the Congress for the current situation, and said that the resignation of Kamal Nath has now paved the way for a new government to take over.

He said that the BJP will now have a Legislative Party meet to decide its leader.

Speaking to reporters after the resignation of Kamal Nath, senior BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that his party had no hand in toppling the government.

"If a government topples due to their own internal conflict then we can't do anything. You can see that we were not in the game to form or topple a government. They (Congress) should do some self introspection that what gave rise to such a situation," he said.

Governor accepts Kamal Nath's resignation

Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon has accepted the resignation of Kamal Nath as Chief Minister; however, he has asked Nath to continue to work as acting Chief Minister till an alternative arrangement emerges.

According to information from Raj Bhavan, "Chief Minister Kamal Nath submitted his resignation letter to Governor Lalji Tandon on Friday at Raj Bhavan. The Governor has accepted his resignation and asked him to continue as acting Chief Minister till a new Chief Minister is sworn in."

BJP's CM candidate: Chouhan or someone new?

With the majority mark down to 103, the doors are now open for the BJP as it has 106 MLAs.

Sources in the BJP told a news agency that the top leadership is mulling over the name of the Legislative party leader. Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is among the favourites but some leaders want to bet on a new face due to the bypolls in 25 Assembly seats. Chouhan would like to step back as he faced the maximum accusations from the Kamal Nath-led government, sources said.

The party might think of someone who comes from the Backward class, sources said.

People's victory in MP: Scindia on Kamal Nath resignation

BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia termed Chief Minister Kamal Nath's resignation as people's victory in Madhya Pradesh.

The former Congress MP, whose exit from that party led to the fall of the Kamal Nath government, said he has always believed that politics should be a medium of serving people.

"However, the (Kamal Nath-led) government had digressed from that path," Scindia tweeted. Truth has prevailed, he added.

"All that has happened in Madhya Pradesh in the last two weeks is a new chapter in the weakening of democratic principles," he wrote in his resignation letter.

Earlier in the day, Madhya Pradesh Assembly speaker Narmada Prasad Prajapati accepted the resignation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Sharad Kaul. He has submitted his resignation to the Speaker on March 6.

The BJP is now left with 106 MLAs after the latest development. Notably, the resignations of 16 rebel MLAs were accepted on Thursday late night while resignations of six ministers were accepted on March 14. The current House strength stands at 205.

"I had said that as long as Kamal Nath is there, I'll keep supporting him. But my priority is the people of my constituency, their development and respect of the workers. I feel that now it's not possible in absence of a leadership," he said.

"Being an Independent MLA, now I don't have have any other option but to support the new govt which will be formed, for the development of my people. I have spoken to them (BJP)," he added.
