Ex- IG’s widow, her sister rescued after being held captive by domestic help for 2 months

It took more than six hours for Shahjehanbad police on Thursday to rescue the widow of former Inspector General of Police and her sister from their house in Koh-e-Fiza area of Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal district, where they were held captive for the past two months. The duo was held captive by their two domestic helpers.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a rescue operation that lasted for six hours, the Shahjehanbad police on Thursday rescued an 80-year-old widow of former Inspector General of Police and her sister from their house in Koh-e-Fiza area of Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal district, where they were held captive for the past two months.

The police had to break 25 locks to rescue the two elderly women held hostage by their domestic helpers.

An FIR was filed against the two caretakers Rukhmani and Abdul Laik.

The two sisters were identified as Razia Sultan, a retired school teacher and her sister Rana Sultan.

The matter came to light after their brother Rafi lodged a complaint with the police stating that he was not allowed to meet his sisters as they have been held captive in their own house.

During police interrogation, the two caretakers accused the woman's stepson and daughter in law, both of whom are residing in the United States of America, of having asked them to hold the women captive.

Police, in the meantime, is trying to establish contact with the stepson, identified as Khalid, and his wife.

The former IG, Jail Rashid Khan married Razia Sultan after the death of his first wife.

After Razia's retirement from the school, she was living Khalid, Rashid's son from his first marriage.

Police is suspecting the incident to be a case of a property dispute.
