Covid-19 infected frontline doctor to be airlifted to Hyderabad

State health authorities have decided to airlift the frontline doctor in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine in Bundelkhand Medical College who has been in a severe condition after contracting the coronavirus. Dr. Satyendra Mishra will be airlifted to Hyderabad for advanced medical assistance.

Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): State health authorities have decided to airlift the frontline doctor in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine in Bundelkhand Medical College who has been in a severe condition after contracting the coronavirus. Dr. Satyendra Mishra will be airlifted to Hyderabad for advanced medical assistance.

Dr. Mishra's plight had come to light after his colleagues at the medical college posted a video on social media, urging the public to help save the doctor who treated several hundreds of Covid patients following the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had also assured of all possible help.

Earlier, Dr. Umesh Patel of Bundelkhand Medical College had appealed for financial support from the public to help facilitate the treatment of Dr. Mishra.

Dr. Mishra was working in the COVID ward of the hospital for the past year treating Covid positive patients.

In the video message, while appealing to the public Dr Umesh Patel had said that the condition of Satyendra Mishra is critical. "80 percent of his lungs have been infected. He will have to be shifted to Dr Apar Jindal of Lung's Transplant Unit in Hyderabad and a huge sum of money will be required," he said.

He appealed to the people of Sagar city to save the doctor who treated hundreds of COVID infected people. He has also appealed to all the public representatives for financial help for his treatment.

He further added that last year, Shubham Upadhyay, a doctor at Sagar Medical College, was also severely infected while serving in the Covid ward could not be saved.

In the video, Dr Umesh also appealed to the people to follow the covid protocols, wear face masks, use sanitizers and follow social distancing. He also said that go for the vaccines when your turn comes.

He also said that Dr Sateyndra needs the prayers of the public to recover from Covid and to serve the people.
