Satna: Tension escalated in Madhya Pradesh's Chitrakoot after the bodies of the twins, who were reported missing since February 12, were found in a river on Sunday.
The locals, angered by the incident, took to the streets and blocked the traffic at major thoroughfares.
Demanding justice for the deceased twins, the protesters set fire to tyres, prompting the police department to deploy forces to prevent any untoward incident.
Bodies of the two brothers were recovered from a river in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, police have said.
Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPc) has been imposed in Chitrakoot.
According to reports, Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested six people in connection with the abduction and murder of the twins.

It may be recalled that a businessman’s six-year-old twins - both boys - were kidnapped at gunpoint from their school bus near Nayagaon in Chitrakoot.
Grieving father demands justice:
The bereaved father, Brijesh Rawat, has appealed to punish the culprits as soon as possible.
"Even after paying the ransom amount, the kidnappers mercilessly killed my children," he said .
