Ujjain: Film star Sonu Sood has expressed his desire to donate money for building the proposed 'Bhakta Niwas' of the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. The 'Bhakta Niwas' will be built at a cost of Rs 200 crore on 32 acres of land.
Sood had visited the temple with his wife in December 2022 to seek blessings from Baba Mahakal. The then collector Ashish Singh had informed him about the proposal of constructing a building for accommodating the devotees. Hearing which, Sood expressed his interest in the project and gave his commitment to donate money for the 'Bhakta Niwas'.
"Sood had asked the collector to inform him once the planning process is completed. Now, that the project has been finalised, we will inform him. Besides Sood, many other devotees have also expressed interest to contribute in this project," temple administrator Sandeep Soni said.
According to the proposal, the G+4 building of the 'Bhakta Niwas' will be set up on Indore Ujjain Road in front of Imperial Hotel. The entire area will have 15 blocks along with a 100-feet wide garden area. There will be an admin office and a total of 2200 rooms for accommodating devotees.
This apart, facilities for parking 100 buses, e-bus charging, waiting area and food court would also be available. The entire area will be beautified by planting trees. The existing Indore-Ujjain Road will be elevated to make space for an underpass to enable devotees to commute to 'Bhakta Niwas'. A total of 200 vehicles can be parked at a time in the premises, said temple officials.
