Mohanlal congratulates youngest mayor-designate

Arya Rajendran, who is set to be the youngest mayor in the country, received a call from actor Mohanlal on Saturday wishing her luck in her new role.

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Mohanlal called Arya Rajendran, the youngest Mayor designate from his hometown, and wished her all possible success. He wished that Arya should make Thiruvananthapuram city better and beautiful under her leadership. The actor also said that he would meet her the next time he reaches Thiruvananthapuram.

In response, Arya told Mohanlal that she lives very close to his house at Mudavanmukal in Thiruvananthapuram. She expressed her happiness on receiving his call and promised to meet up next time he comes to the city.

College goer Arya Rajendran had won on the LDF ticket from Mudavanmukal at a majority of 549 votes, in the recent local body polls in the State.

Arya was led to politics by her father who is a Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) worker. Right from a young age, she has been exposed to working in an organisational structure associating with Bala Sangham, a children’s organisation and later through the SFI. Arya is currently a State Committee member of the Student Federation of India (SFI - the student wing of CPIM) and the State President of Bala Sangham.

She is the second year BSc Mathematics student with the All Saints College in Thiruvananthapuram.
