Thiruvananthapuram: To ensure the safety of women in public, private and digital spaces, Kerala police on Monday launched the 'Pink Protection' project. The 'Pink Protection' project aims to prevent dowry-related violence, cyberbullying and humiliation in public places. Inaugurating the project, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan flagged off 10 cars, 40 two-wheelers including bullet bikes and 20 bicycles, given to the pink patrol teams in front of the Kerala Police headquarters.

As part of the project, Pink Janamaithri Beat will be rolled out to stop domestic violence cases before they happen. A team of women police officers will conduct regular house visits to gather information on domestic violence. They will collect information from panchayath members, neighbours and local residents and hand it over to the Station House Officers for further action. The project has 10 components, one of which is activating the existing Pink Police Patrol system.
