Kasaragod: As a part of PMs overarching scheme for holistic nutrition Poshan Abhiyan, being organized across 650 KVKs all over India by ICAR and Union Ministry of Agriculture, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Central Plantation Crops Research Institute in Kasaragod had organized a one-day capacity development programme for Anganwadi workers and farm women on Thursday.
This programme was held as the part of Poshan Abhiyan and the programme was inaugurated by D Sajith Babu IAS, District Collector, Kasaragod. During his inaugural speech, he stressed about the development of nutrigardens in 1348 Aganwadis in Kasaragod district and direct marketing of vegetables and other farm produces by using Subhiksha app in Kasaragod district.
Dr Aarathi Nair, Medical Officer, Central University of Kerala took a class on the topic “Nutritional Requirements, Balanced Diet and Health” for the participants while K Manikandan, Senior Technical Officer, KVK, took a class on the topic “Nutrigardens in Homesteads”.
In collaboration with IFFCO, seed kits for developing nutrigarden in homesteads were distributed to the farmers and Anganwadi workers who participated in the programme.
