54 new COVID-19 cases in Kerala, tally at 1,342

Kerala's fight against COVID-19 continues as 54 new cases were reported in the state taking the overall cases to 1,342.

Thiruvananthapuram: Saturday was another day of continuous rise in the number of new COVID-19 cases as 54 people tested positive, taking the tally to 1,342, said Kerala Health Minister K.K. Shailaja.

"Of the 54, about 23 came from abroad, 25 from other states, three local infectees and four health professionals. As on Sunday, 1,101 people have been cured," said Shailaja.

There are 2,42,767 people under observation at homes, care centres and 2023 in hospitals. During the day, six hot spots were added, taking the total to 122.

Till now lockdown was observed on all Sundays in the state. But with the Centre allowing the opening of places of worship and few examinations scheduled today, permission was granted to those who wished to travel for them.
