Post Karnataka polls: Politicians sip coffee, relish idli, offer prayers

As the state assembly election was over, political leaders in Karnataka are unwinding themselves. They were seen spending time with their close friends and family after all the din and bustle of the election campaigns.

Bengaluru: As the state assembly election was over, political leaders in Karnataka are unwinding themselves. Leaders belonging to different political parties were looking relaxed after their participation in the month-long gruelling electioneering process. The leaders were seen spending time with their close friends and family after all the din and bustle of the campaigning.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar, former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and BJP candidate CP Yogeshwar have been spending quality time with their family, friends and well-wishers.

Shivakumar visited Vasu Hotel located at KNS Circle in the Kanakapura area of Bengaluru along with other leaders to relish mouth-watering delicacies including Idli and Dosa. After that, he spent time interacting with locals and discussing elections and results with them. After that, Shivakumar and DK Suresh visited the Kodihalli locality in the Kanakapura area and took blessings from his mother Gauramma.

Kumaraswamy's foreign trip: Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy went on a foreign trip after the state assembly polls. It is learnt from sources that he flew to Singapore from Bangalore along with his relatives. Kumaraswamy will return to Bangalore on May 13 afternoon. On the other hand, CP Yogeshwar, the BJP candidate from Channapatnam seat, was sipping coffee along with his workers at a hotel in the city immediately after the polling was over.

Siddaramaiah-Surjewala consultation: State Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala met Siddaramaiah and held talks on the next strategy. Surjewala was also called on to Siddaramaiah at his government residence situated near Sivanandavrtta to hold discussions on the results. So far, the exit poll survey had shown the Congress party gaining sizeable numbers of seats in the state assembly polls.

Sources said that Siddaramaiah returned from Mysore on Wednesday night and had a discussion with Surjewala at a private hotel. Several issues came up for discussion between the duo. The talks centred around the formation of the government if the Congress was voted to power in the state. Other options of joining hands with the JDS were also discussed between the two Congress leaders.

CM Bommai paid obeisance to Savadatti Yallamma Devi: Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai along with his wife Channamma paid obeisance to goddess Savadatti Yallamma Devi. The Chief Minister along with his wife offered special Puja to the presiding deity Savadatti. Minister CC Patil, BJP candidate Ratna Mamani and others were present on the occasion.
