Bangalore (Karnataka): Former BJP state president B. S Yeddyurappa handed over the presidency of BJP in Karnataka to newly elected state President Nalin Kumar Kateel.
BS Yeddyurappa handed over the BJP flag to Nalin Kumar Kateel in a symbolic gesture. Both current and former BJP state presidents were felicitated on this occasion.
The appointment was announced in a memo issued by Arun Singh, National General Secretary of the BJP. "BJP National President Amit Shah has appointed Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP as State President of BJP Karnataka. This appointment comes into immediate effect," the memo states.
"I am neither a scholar nor a wise man, a common man can become President only in the BJP. I got a huge responsibility," he said
The announcement comes hours after the Chief Minister expanded his three weeks old Cabinet on Tuesday.
BJP is in a golden era, "Let's build a stronger BJP. I am hopeful of doing this job well with the help of BS Yediyurappa and the support of the workers."
