Mysuru: Mysuru's Dakshinamurthy Krishna Kumar who took his 70-year-old mother on a pilgrimage covering more than 40,000 KM on his scooter has become a celebrity on social media.
Once Kumar's story came out on social media, it garnered a lot of love and even got noticed from the chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra.
So impressed was Anand Mahindra that he promised and gifted a Mahindra KUV 100 NXT car, worth more than Rs. 9 lakh to Kumar on Monday.
Also called modern-day Shravan Kumar, Krishna undertook the journey on his father's Bajaj Chetak scooter and after two years and nine months, he is back in Mysuru.

Starting his Journey from Kerala, Kumar and his mother traveled to Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and ended in Arunachal Pradesh covering around 25,522 kms.
During their stays, the mother-son duo told the media that they never stayed in hotels, always opted for temples, dharamshalas and mutts.
Explaining how the journey started and appreciating his son, Chudaratna said, "One day my son asked me about the places I have visited and I told him that I had never seen the Halebeedu which is near to where we stay. That day he decided to take me for pilgrimage in the Bajaj Chetak scooter of his father."
"The scooter was given to him by his father who served as a government employee in the forest department," she added.
Talking to ETV Bharat, an emotional Chudaratna said that she considers herself very lucky to have a son like Dakshinamurthy.
