Karnataka: Four accused held in minor Dalit girl gangrape case

A 15-year-old minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by four men 20 days ago. The incident came to light after victim's family lodged a complaint in Ghataprabha police station on Thursday. However, a special police team nabbed all the accused within 10 hours of receiving the complaint, police said.

Belagavi: While the investigation of gangrape case of Mysuru still in progress, another such incident took place in Belagavi. Police arrested accused within 10 hours after complaint was lodged.

20 days ago, a 15-year-old minor girl in Belagavi was gangraped. This incident took place in a village (village name not mentioned) which comes under the jurisdiction of Ghataprabha police station in Gokak Taluk of Belagavi district. Girl was going to agricultural farm lonely. Four young men from the same village followed her. Later, they took her to a secluded area and raped her.

The accused also threatened to kill her if she informed anyone about the incident and escaped. The victim was hospitalized in serious condition.

The incident came to light after victim's family filed case in Ghataprabha police station on Thursday. They came to the police station with their daughter (victim) immediately after her recovery. The police registered case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on parents' complaint and victim's statement.

Special team was formed under the direction of Belagavi Superintendent of Police (SP) Laxman Nimbaragi. The team of Ghataprabha station police succeeded in arresting all the accused within 10 hours after complaint was lodged.
