Mangalore: A man died from drowning in a river while spending time with his family in the river waters. Jayarama Gowda went down after saving his children from drowning in the confluence of Nandini and Shambhavi rivers in Karnataka.
A video of the incident on January 1 was circulated on social media.
Even though a team of Mantra Surfing Club came to the rescue, Jayarama could not be saved. When Shyam, a member of the club reached the spot where they were drowning, Jayarama held his child above the water. The rescue team took the child from his hand and saved her. They also rescued another child and his wife.
According to sources, he came along with his family to enjoy a vacation in Mulki Chitrapu resort on December 31. He was spending time with his three children and wife in the river near the resort when the water level started to rise.
