Karnataka COVID-19 Patients violate norms, offer mass prayer at quarantine ward

COVID-19 patients flout quarantine guidelines and offer namaz inside an isolation ward in Bidar, Karnataka. Minister-in-charge of the district, Prabhu Chauhan has taken note of the incident and suggested strict monitoring in each and every ward.

Bidar (Karnataka): In defiance of the social distancing guidelines, which ban all kinds of gathering including mass religious ones, some patients offered namaz (mass prayer) at the quarantine ward of District Headquarters Hospital of Karnataka's Bidar on Saturday.

According to sources, Minister of Animal Husbandry and in-charge of the district, Prabhu Chauhan had visited the hospital's isolation ward yesterday. On this occasion, some corona positive patients in the ward were noticed sitting down from their bed and offering mass prayer.

Minister was stunned for a while and said, "It is not the right place and time to do this, it must be done at home. Entire India and the world is shouting to maintain social distance and you have to maintain the same."

He pleaded patients to cooperate with the government regulations and also suggested that police personnel should be assigned to the isolation ward and corona suspects in the hospital must be monitored.

Notably, the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi has emerged as a hotspot for COVID-19 with hundreds of positive cases across India linked to the gathering.
