Kalaburagi (Karnataka): A government bus driver was chased by miscreants and hacked in Karnataka's Kalaburagi on Thursday. The slain Nagayaswamy (45), a bus driver attached to Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation was attacked by three persons with sharp weapons and then chased and hacked to death.
Nagayaswamy, who hailed from Madari village in Afjalapura taluk in Kalaburagi district was presently staying at Mahadeva Nagar, police said. "Nagayyaswamy was serving as a bus driver for the last 20 years. The driver was attached to Kalaburagi Depot No. 3. Today he went to Minajagi for two rounds since morning. Around 1.30 pm, he returned to Minajagi at Super Market City Bus Stand. He was driving a bus bearing registration number (KA-32, F-1652)," police officials said.
When he was alighting from the bus at the bus stop, three miscreants suddenly attacked with traditional weapons, they said. "In the first blow, his thumb was cut off. Nagayaswamy ran inside the bus stand. The miscreants chased and hacked him to death. The criminals threw the weapons near a parked bus and fled away," they said.
DCP Adooru Srinivasalu, Brahmapur police station, said, "We have collected fingerprints and the dog squad was pressed into service. An old feud was stated to be the motive behind the murder. The body was sent to a mortuary for post-mortem examination."
"KKRTC bus driver Nagayyaswamy was murdered with a machete by unknown persons between 1.45 pm and 2 pm today near the city bus stand under Brahmapura police station. We have conducted a preliminary investigation. We don't have much information about the murder at this time," the DCP added.
