Elephant chases safari vehicle in Mysore

The incident took place when a group of tourists stopped in the middle of the forest to take photos of a herd of elephants in Dammanakatte Safari region of Nagarahole National Park. Mother elephant rushed towards the tourists and chased them away.

Mysore: A mother elephant chased away some tourists when they were taking snaps in the Dammanakatte Safari in Nagarahole National Park in Mysore.

According to the tourists, the elephant chased the tourists in defence of her calf, a video of which went viral on social platforms.

The incident took place when a group of tourists in a safari bus stopped in the middle of the forest to take some photos of a herd of elephants.

As soon as they started taking snaps, the mother elephant came forward separating from the herd and rushed towards the safari bus chasing the tourists (see video).

Forest officials believe the snaps were taken when the mother elephant was safeguarding her calf.

Usually, elephants prefer staying in herds and are quite protective of their offsprings. They don't like to be disturbed and therefore behaved in this manner.
