Bidar (Karnataka): While the schools in city areas move to the online platform to run the classes amid coronavirus pandemic, the school in rural areas find it tough to adopt due to technological backwardness and poor internet connectivity.
To provide seamless learning to those children who are deprived of modern technologies, many schools of Bidar district of Karnataka are using tenement schooling to keep kids engaged. They're holding classes in their localities by using libraries in government schools, homes, temples and other available places.
Now, the students are getting the guidance adhering the social distancing norms and using face masks as well as sanitisers while attending the class.
While speaking to ETV Bharat, a 15-year-old student, Shardha Tanaji said, "Earlier, our teachers had started taking online classes. As the students are unaware of the online protocols, they started shouting, which ultimately affect the whole class. Also, we find it tough to clarify our doubts during online classes. Now, our teachers are taking classes in an open-air classroom. Now, we can ask our doubts directly to our teachers."
When asked the teacher about the experience of taking online classes, he asserted that most of the students missed the class due to lack of smartphones or internet connectivity.
"We have been conducting the classes at the open places for the last three months. Earlier, the parents hesitate to send their children to the classes. But, after getting the surety of adhering all coronavirus protocols, they are willing to send their wards."
However, the teacher added that they have been facing difficulties while taking classes during monsoon.
