When the whole country was facing the ravaging second wave of Covid-19, Elaneeru, a little village in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, has remained untouched by Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic last year.

Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka): When the whole country was facing the ravaging second wave of Covid-19, Elaneeru, a little village in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, has remained untouched by Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic last year.

Elaneeru is located in Belthangadi taluk, home to 136 families and more than 600 residents. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the village has not reported a single case of Covid-19.

Panchayat Development Officer, Gayatri P. said, "The village has been able to achieve this because the residents here adhere to the regulations of Covid-19 and the residents only leave their homes in emergency situations. The residents receive nutritious food from the department of ration and social welfare every month at the community hall."

There is almost 632 resident in the village, and more than 60 symptomatic patients were examined, and all patients tested negative for Covid-19. In addition, 120 out of 135 people over 45 years of age were vaccinated immediately.

A resident Prakash Jain says, "The village has waterfalls and trekking sites, which attracts the tourists to this place. But during the Covid period, we have checked the entry of the tourists to the village."
