Ranchi (Jharkhand): Doctors of a Ranchi-based hospital successfully removed a 15-kilogram tumour from a 92-year-old woman.
The operation was carried out at Ranchi's Raj Hospitals.
Jogesh Gambhir, the chairperson of the hospital, said that for the past few days, the tumour in the woman's stomach had been steadily growing and was causing severe health ailments.
The woman's entire stomach had swollen as the tumour had not been operated upon, he added.
Due to her increasing ailments, the woman's family had visited several doctors for treatment. However, no doctor was ready to take the risk of an operation considering the patient's age.

Finally, when the family visited Raj Hospitals, senior general surgeon Dr Ashish Kumar and senior cancer specialist Dr PK Raina conducted a diagnosis of the patient and concluded that an operation must be conducted immediately as the woman's life was at risk.
Gambhir said that the procedure was extremely complex owing to the patient's age, but was successful thanks to the skilled doctors and proper resources at the hospital.
Other than Modi and Raina, a team of eight persons played a crucial role in the successful operation.
Following the procedure, the patient's family thanked the doctors at the hospital for the successful operation.
